All Thai First Graders Get Free iPads

All Thai First Grade Students enrolled in public schools are now receiving tablets this academic year under the “One Tablet PC Per Child” initiative. The Thai government is supplying 900,000 such tablets this year. 7th Graders are scheduled to get theirs during the next academic year. The Education Ministry is holding a training on the use of table for 50,000 Thai teachers. When should we expect to see this in the U.S. public schools? Is it just a matter of time before the educators and government officials are convinced about the usefulness of tablets in education? Technology and education are becoming so intrinsically intertwined that it will soon be hard to image schools without the smartphones, tablets and other portable devices.
