A startup 52apps, located in South Carolina, has a lot on its plate: it aims to create one iOS app every week, all the apps have to be done by students. The founders of the company work for free. They train students at the University of South Carolina how to make an app in five days (with pre-programming blocks). The goal is to show that, with the assistance of pre-programmed tools, people with mid-level programming skills can build an app. According to App Annie, one out of every five apps is made by an individual or companies with fewer than 5 employees. Universities are particularly great sources of innovation. According to the National Business Incubator Association, at least 36 U.S. colleges have a business incubator where students can make mobile apps. Even high school students are active in this field. It is great to see that the American colleges and universities encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in their students. For more information, see here.
